A Fresh New Look For Green Grads

Everyone has a few BIG years that loom large.

For me, one of those years is 2011. That was an unforgettable summer for Green Grads. It’s the first high season we took the leap and bought a second truck. It was a 2008 Ford Ranger, all white, similar to the first one we bought.

The day I brought it home and parked it at our home-based shop I knew things were going to be different.

Fast forward to the thick of the summer, we had more employees than we’d ever had. Seven full-timers. It was mayhem. A few marketing efforts we had tried really took off and we were so busy I would spend the mornings answering calls and the afternoons pitching in on the window and gutters, sometimes working well into the evening.

It was exhausting. Brain-in-a-vice type of stress. Half the time I didn’t know which day it was.

But it was fun.

I’ll never forget the guys who worked for us. I still keep in touch with some of them. Matt F. was a sales whiz who was always trying different ways to find customers. Dennis B. gave his teammates window cleaning-themed nicknames.

Whenever I look at photos from 2011, I smile…at least, up until this spring.

I began cringing at how long it had been since we had refreshed our brand.

It was finally time for a change.

My friend Ella, at Fellow, is someone I’ve known for a long time. We swam together for a bit at UBC’s old varsity pool.

Since then, she’s built quite a few cool brands, and I knew she could take my random collection of thoughts and turn them into a fresh look for Green Grads.

Our new branding is below, take a look and let us know what you think.

My favourite part is that all of it feels new, but still has the soul of what we’re all about. Doing really good work, with our mind on the environment, and having fun.
