We have been a by-hand window cleaning company since our first day. In light of continued serious warnings from climate scientists about the thin ice we’re walking on as a global community, we remain committed to sustainability for all of our services.
While many of our competitors use water-fed poles for the majority of their window cleaning, we will remain a majority mop and squeegee window cleaning company.
This reduces the water required to clean the windows of the average Vancouver home by as much as 500%.
A typical three-bedroom home requires roughly 9 litres to clean by-hand vs. up to 50 litres for water-fed pole systems. For our competitors, the water use is impacted by various factors including which system they use and how well-trained their staff are; but the difference is dramatic.
Quality and sustainable window cleaning takes time.
A note here: Our team’s safety is number one. In extremely limited cases, we may use water-fed poles if it is the only safe way to clean a window. Otherwise, we use mops and squeegees.
When to get your windows cleaned?
We recommend window cleaning at least once in the spring and summer, and once in the late fall. The rain and snow during the colder months in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland causes home windows to collect dirt and grime. That’s why most of our customers will opt for at least a spring or summer window cleaning. This allows you to enjoy the increased daylight and sunshine.

According to physicians at UCLA, “Decades of studies have shown that natural light has powerful, and often positive effect not only on mental health, but also on physical health and general well-being.
Clean windows increase the amount of natural light that passes into your home. With more of us working from home, this may also mean increased natural light in our workspaces as well.
In addition, I’ve been learning a lot about self-care recently. One concept within self-care is eliminating unnecessary ‘tolerations’ in my life. For example, last week I filled a shopping bag with clothing donations for the local thrift store. The store is a two kilometre walk from my home and I meant to drop-off the bag within a few days. Of course, the bag sat beside my front door and I stepped around it awkwardly multiple times a day for two weeks.
It would have been so easy for me to walk or bike down to the thrift store and drop it off but I just put up with it instead.
One self-kindness is believing you are worthy of eliminating all tolerations in your life.
Another toleration is dealing with dirty, rain-soiled windows for longer than is necessary. Of course, there is a cost to window cleaning. However, if your budget allows it, getting them cleaned can be an excellent self-care practice.
